Solo-Baric Gets Krazy at Fresh dB Drag Event

Temple Hills, MD – Told you so ...

We told you square moved more air than round. Just try to find another 8-inch subwoofer that can fill a car with 147.5 thundering decibels!

Team Wattsup (Scotch Plains, NJ) and their deafening Camaro showed competitors in dB Drag Racing’s new Krazy Eights format how to pound it out with a Solo-Baric L7 8-inch subwoofer and a single amp in one lonely run through the lanes. Their 147.5 dB shattered the second-place finisher’s hopes by more than six decibels at a local dealer’s event February 2! And as a result, Wattsup racked up the prizes from some very appreciative guys at KICKER!

Draggers originally brought up the simplistic idea through their home base’s TermPro Forum (termpro.com), and after more than 200 postings, the dB Drag Racing suits decided the draggers were onto something. KICKER Competition Group Manager Greg Davis watched it all unfold as well and was driven to offer winnings for the loudest KICKER eight in the lanes.

"The reason I like this is that it is fresh," Davis stated. "Anybody can scrounge up an eight and an amp." He also laid some simple ground rules for collecting the KICKER loot. "You have to use a KICKER woofer," Davis explained by way of the Forum. "If you don't have as good of taste in amps, you can slide by this time 'cause I am playing nice. And there is always hope for a lost soul."

The proposed event turned into a head-to-head, Midwest-versus-East Coast slam-off, and the buzz led to large crowds and several other manufacturers getting involved too. Dealership personnel tallied up dozens of competitors from Maryland, D.C., Delaware, Jersey, and Virginia as the grass-roots showdown really took off! At the Krazy Eights Midwest version held in Springfield, Missouri, John Liehr blew by everybody else with a 139.8 dB using an L7 and KX1200.1 Class D mono amp in his '99 Toyota Corolla, which earned him a new 8-inch S8L7 sub, license plate, decals, and CD case, all courtesy of KICKER! Team Wattsup received all that booty as well, and KICKER added a powerful KX1200.1 to the mix for the overall champ! "The license plate is so thieves can spot the loudest car in the lot," Davis clarified.

"Thanks to Greg from KICKER - you made us get krazy, and you make a kick-a** 8-inch sub," Wattsup posted later on the Forum. KICKER and the KCG will see you next February 21 in Gonzales, Louisiana, at the Mardi Gras Nationals.
